why human cann't be hybrided?

topic posted Thu, January 25, 2007 - 4:10 AM by  Manish
I had read in Osho' s book of Gita this qyestion. Osho ask if hybriding plants and animal can produce better generantion then why this can not be tried on human? I am pondering over this question for long time. I would like a debate on this subject.

If natural selection is working for us, what would be the intent of engineered life?

      scarey thought.

        hybrided? Is that a word? : )

Youre not talking about cloning right? Hybrid is altering a human that is already living or engineering one before it is born? What would it be hybrid with. Alien? Animal? Reminds me of the X Men. I love this subject!

I doesn't mean cloning. By hybrid I mean fertilizing a woman by many people of different capability to reproduce child with greater capacity. For example a scientist and a spiritualist both may have sex with a single woman to bring a new kind of human in this world. If it is possible hybriding with animals may also be considered.

Um. How do you get two sperm to fertilize one egg?

you can't. you can get 2 sperm ot fertilize 2 eggs for fraternal twins, or 1 sperm, egg divides to get identical twins. the only way I can think of to make this work is to somehow get both genetic material into one sperm. maybe genetic research can solve this someday, chromosomal splicing is I think what is needed, but genetic material does not select for emotional characteristics in a grown man, only the potential for them.

Well Rowan, If it is not possible to fertilize 2 sperm with an egg then is it possibe to fertilize a sperm of differnt quality with a egg of diferent quality? e.g. a sperm of a scientist may be fertilized with a egg of a spiritualist or an artist. Thus resulting child may be of better quality. Generally people want to have sex with same thinking people or people from same fraternity. But like horse or other animal if people started having sex with different thinking person is not it will yield beter genre?

On the other hand, is there a reason for human attraction? Something has held us together as a species
for all these years. I would <like> to believe that maybe the attraction and successful relationships are more
than just compatibility. Perhaps they play some part in our evolution.

Therefore if we "engineer" a "better" human are we just fooling ourselves into thinking this will improve
the species? Maybe its the romantic in me but I would like to think that there is a reason for attraction &
                  relationships.

Yeah, I don't see anything wrong with that idea at all. It would be interesting to keep records on the "cross Pollination" and see how the offspring turn out. deveopmental psyc folks have been wondering about the nature vs nurture business for years. is the child more influenced by his genetics or his surroundings? and for women in the 60's and 70's who just wanted a sperm donor, they selected from the donor's profile the characteristics that they valued most, tall dark and handsome, or an iq over 140. I'm pretty sure that that could be called selective breeding, not hybridizing.

                    cross breeding among human.

                    Dear Rowan,
Here is translation of Osho's original speech on "cross breeding" delivered in Hindi language.
".......Cross breeding is the superior breeding. There is possibility of generating 'superior' from cross breeding. You are using this in the seeds......Using in the animals. Not using in human yet. That's why today'breeding of human is backward than that of animal.
Today we produce better dog amongst dog, but can't produce better human amongst human. Reproduction system in human is still unscientific. Still we are not caring about producing better human, with more healthy body and mind. We care about seed. Seeds of fruits, flower, wheats etc are becoming better. We are caring to produce better animal among animals. but not in human. In old age it was assumed that interrace or intercaste sex will produce hybrid & inferior child. But in real allintellectual & developed community & culture in the world is hybrid. All 'pure' community are backward. Nigro are pure, African tribals are pure, Indian tribals are pure.
All developed civilization, culture are hybrid. Like two different stream meat and make a mighty river in the same way two stream of life produce more prosperous life. if the old wisdom was true then brother & sister should have married & produce 'pure' child. But, not child will be unhealthy. We stop brother and sister( to marry). Wise people stop even cousins. Wiser will will not marry in their community. Person more wiser will not marry in their country. And if we are able to find 'human' on any other planet wisest people will think about 'inter-planetory cross-breeding"............

Natural selection is being slected away big time....then they want to make the perfect human with genetic manipualation. What the hell ?
Now you know the have already cloned the humans and chimps but of course it would be top top secret.
Hell maybe Big Foot is a result genetic manipulation that got loose loose loose scary thought huh...just wee things I come up with in my postulative head.

Human do attempt to hybridize across strains within their own species, but the genetic advantages are often eclipsed by social disadvantages. This is probably going to change really fast in the generation or two as cultural globalization continues and people of blue blood have a larger pool of more exotic bluebloods to tap into...thus allowing them to keep not only wealth and social class, but also the ability to live normal life spans and have a normal number of heirs without an abnormal amount of medical intervention, ghost writers for their college papers or concoctions of civet ass-oil to make them less olfactorily repellent to each other.
